The Unforgotten Installation at the Young Vic

STAND, FACE, CONQUER

Young lions roar, BLACK, WHITE AND BROWN ruffle their golden manes.  Their tongues ignite with words of fire.  UNCHAINED.

They yell, they shout “NO JUSTICE NO PEACE”.  They vent their anger.

They’ve opened up their eyes, they begin to realise that Institutional sophistication is another form of psychological subjugation - in disguise.

Other people who are opposed march alongside filled with animosities and grievances, march with their own hidden agendas.  We NEED to remember those people that have died needlessly, like Rashan Charles who died in police custody, Jaden Moody, Nathanial Armstrong, was it mistaken identity? or where they random targets of knife crime?

What about Pett Roach and her son Jude who was killed by a man with a knife on Sunday 24th September 2017, leaving a young family behind and which shook their community.

What about their dreams?

Written by Jennifer Akre in response to The Unforgotten, a free interactive art installation at the Young Vic which participates in and contributes to the ongoing conversation within the Black Lives Matter movement regarding whose image we uphold and elevate, offering our community an alternative view of leadership.
